You pick a card, drop it in a valid spot (on the path, next to the path, or out in the void), and then wait for your hero to happen by. Experiment with card placement for weird combinations Spread them out, save the ones you know will be hard to deal with (like swamps, for some reason), and take some time to think about their placement. Instead, hold onto the enemy-generating cards. Very early in the game, this is mostly manageable. It’s tempting to drop every card along the path the moment they come into your hand. Image: Four Quarters/Devolver Digital via Polygon Your job as world-builder (and equipment manager) is to balance your hero’s survival against the value of those rewards. Placing cards means putting challenges in your hero’s way, and those challenges come with better rewards. If you don’t place a single card during a loop, the hero will happily continue fighting slimes in wastelands forever, collecting getting mediocre weapons and unexciting resources as rewards. Don’t place every card or you’ll overwhelm your hero Your job is to balance those three tasks, and that starts with making sure your hero doesn’t get overwhelmed. Graphic: Jeffrey Parkin | Sources: Four Quarters/Devolver Digital via Polygon And that stuff turns into new camp buildings which unlock new cards and classes. Placing cards lets the hero collect better, rarer, and more valuable resources. More killing means more cards and better equipment. Balancing the threeĪnd that’s how all three roles are interrelated: In the hands-off part, the hero fights and collects things, and you’re in charge of making said hero more kill-y. In between trips along the titular loop, you’ll be planning and building out your hero’s camp with structures like a farm, smithy, and herbalist’s hut. Others change the loop itself (the path the hero walks), creating cemeteries and vampire mansions that spawn extra enemies - and more enemies means more drops. Some cards change the terrain (the black void around the loop), adding things like meadows and rocks for health boosts. You place these cards around the map, complicating the loop. World-builderĪs the hero fights, you build the world - think of it like playing as the board on which a board game takes place (or being a dungeon master in Dungeons & Dragons).ĭead enemies drop equipment like swords and shields, as well as cards. As outfitter, you manage the equipment they find by comparing equipment’s stats and equipping the one with the bigger number. Outfitterĭuring a loop, the hero is autonomously walking around and slaying enemies that drop equipment, cards, and resources. Instead, you’ve got three distinct (but related) jobs: outfitter, world-builder, and city planner. The odd thing about Loop Hero is that you don’t control any walking or fighting - the titular hero handles that on their own. We’ll teach you how to think about your role (what you do in Loop Hero), choosing and placing cards, gathering resources, what to build first at your camp, and how to unlock new classes. In this Loop Hero guide, we’ll give our tips for your several hours with the game. The individual parts are easy enough to understand, but it gets overwhelming fast. While you’re here make sure to check out how to beat The Lich in Loop Hero right here on Gamer Tweak.Loop Hero takes bits and pieces from lots of other games and shuffles them into something new. These are the best tile combos or synergies in Loop Hero that we’ve found so far, we will keep updating this with better combos as and when they’re available. Place a Forest next to a Storm Temple and you will get a Burned Forest, this will also grant you extra magic damage. This will come in handy during the later stages of the game. Place a Sand Dune next to a River and while your Hero’s attack speed will be reduced by 0.5%, the other creature’s attack speed gets reduced by 1%. You will need to place a Village next to a Vampire Mansion to get a Ransacked Village, this will also spawn 4 Ghouls per loop. Place Meadow next to any other tile to get the Blooming Meadow, this will start offering you 3 HP every day. This will help you to get maximum rewards and useful resources. To get the most out of your treasury and increase the rewards, you should surround your Treasury with rocks, mountains, or meadows.

In fact, real pirates tended toward even nastier behavior, like gruesome tortures (holding lighted matches to a victim's eyes was a favorite) or hacking their prisoners to death with swords. It makes for great film drama, but pirates didn't actually do this - though not because of gentlemanly qualms. Did pirates make their prisoners walk the plank? So, perhaps there existed some honor among thieves. "No prey, no pay" was a common principle, but equal shares in the plunder was also valued. Turns out Sir Henry Morgan and Bartholomew Roberts were actual pirates, members of a loose confederation of buccaneers called the "Brethren of the Coast," centered on the island of Tortuga in the 1600s.Įven the code existed as a historical fact, and as in the movie, involved issues of fairness among the pirates. The first film makes much of the "Pirates' Code." When Elizabeth Swann (played by Keira Knightley) is about to be seized, she asks for a parley, invoking the "Code of the Brethren, set down by the pirates Morgan and Bartholomew." Clever film fiction, right? Wrong. How about the "Pirates' Code?" Any truth to that? Their corpses were then displayed as a warning, like the three whom Jack Sparrow salutes early in the first Pirates film. Port Royal officials shifted from welcoming pirates to hanging every one they could catch. The abuses of the privateering system, and the presence of so many scruffy free-agent pirates, led to a decision by the British authorities in the early 18th century to begin cracking down on piracy in the Caribbean. Many also balked at relinquishing any of their ill-gotten gains to their governments. But the system grew rife with abuse, since most privateers couldn't be trusted to limit their pillaging only to enemy ships. The Spanish and French also licensed pirates to harass their European rivals, as a cheap way of waging naval warfare. To the English, Drake was a national hero. In the 16th century, he plundered countless Spanish ships and ports around the Caribbean, stealing the equivalent of millions of dollars in today's money, all in the name of the British crown. Sir Francis Drake was one such privateer (licensed pirate). In some cases, the British government actually commissioned seamen to commit acts of piracy, but with one catch: They were charged to prey only upon Spaniards, British rivals on the high seas and in the New World, and turn over a large portion of the stolen loot to the government. So, the British government encouraged piracy? But ironically, the Brits in Port Royal welcomed pirates initially, in part because of the money they spent but also in hopes that the pirates' fearsome reputation would keep the Spanish and French from attempting to capture Jamaica. Yes, and the town, which was also featured in the first film, served as the capital of the British community in Jamaica in the 17th century. This group later made their base on Tortuga and turned to piracy.Ī. They smoked their meat over open fires, and so the French word for that process - boucaner, meaning "to smoke-dry" - became associated with them. The original buccaneers were French renegades who lived off stolen livestock on Hispaniola (which today is Haiti and the Dominican Republic). A buccaneer was a pirate who plundered in the Caribbean. What's the difference between a buccaneer and a pirate?Ī pirate is anyone who robs on the high seas. Even Tortuga - the pirate city depicted in the first Pirates of the Caribbean film - existed, founded by buccaneers in 1630 on an island off Haiti. Numerous pirates plied those waters, pillaging, plundering and pilfering. The 17th century has been called the "Golden Age of Piracy" in the Caribbean. Here lie some valuable nuggets of information about pirates, buccaneers and privateers: With the release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - and thanks to Johnny Depp, who plays the zany Captain Jack Sparrow - pirates are chic once again. Was Tortuga an actual pirate city? What does one do when urged to "avast!"? And did pirates really wear such thick eyeliner? Films like Captain Blood gave audiences Errol Flynn as dashing, clean-cut pirates, who rescued damsels in distress and vanquished hammy villains in spectacular swordfights. Hollywood has churned out more than 70 films about pirates. NEW MP3 MUSIC VIDEO ALERT ARTIST: Arctic Monkeys SONG TITLE: Do I Wanna Know Arctic Monkeys Do I Wanna Know Lyrics. Over the course of her career so far, Ariana Savalas has achieved many feats. The music video shows Savalas in burlesque as she returns to her hotel room after a show with cuts to the multi-instrumentalist on a picturesque beach. The Postmodern Jukebox founding member has just recently dropped the accompanying visuals for What Do You Wanna Know as well. Produced by the renowned UK-based producer Steve Power (Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue), What Do You Wanna Know is a brilliant first taste of Savalas’s new record. Or more to the point, the situation reads as if he has fallen in love with someone who in. But what it all boils down to is, from an emotional and mental perspective, the singer being in a less-than-ideal romantic relationship. It received a digital download release through iTunes as well as an accompanying music video. Relatively speaking, the lyrics of Arctic Monkeys’ Do I Wanna Know are quite-elaborate for a pop song. It was released on 19 June 2013 by Domino Recording Company as the second single from their fifth studio album, AM (2013). Alongside the captivating vocals from Ariana Savalas, there’s real emotion within the instruments played, the piano, soaring strings and steady drum beat combine to make a truly emotive slice of cabaret rock. 'Do I Wanna Know' is a song by English rock band Arctic Monkeys, with lyrics written by frontman Alex Turner. Undoubtedly, most people have felt this way at some point in their life and the California-born artist has encapsulated that daunting feeling of uncertainty and where you compare yourself to your friends. Take the beautifully sung lyrics: “ What do you wanna know? How I’m 34, still searching for the meaning | Friends are moving on I’m stuck in stone” for example. Savalas does an exceptional job at penning lyrics that are clearly introspective and personal to herself yet most people can still relate to. Hai un po di colore sulle guance Hai mai avuto quella sensazione di disagio. It’s a vibrant track that thematically shows an honest reflection of what it is like to be uncertain about the direction of your life. Taken as the first single from her forthcoming new studio album , Ariana Savalas’s new tune What Do You Wanna Know is an operatic, elegant and heartfelt experience. Singer-songwriter Ariana Savalas has shared the gorgeous new single What Do You Wanna Know. Thursday we arrived in Skagway, which is an old, quaint town. We saw hundreds of bald eagles in Sitka - very exciting. We heard a very informative lecture by a park ranger about totem poles and their history. The National Park Service had two interesting and free places to visit: the Russian Bishop's House and the Sitka National Historical Park which had a large totem pole collection. This was the only port where we were tendered to shore. Wednesday morning we arrived at our first port, Sitka, a former Russian fur trading town. One of the lecturers on board the ship said he has been watching Hubbard glacier for 21 years and this was best he has ever seen. We were served hot chocolate (with rum if you wanted it) as we watched this spectacle. We docked for over three hours and watched as the glacier "calfed" and made the most incredible sounds as the large chunks of ice fell in to the sea. The ship was able to get within 1/2 mile of the glacier. We departed Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon, we arrived at Hubbard Glacier. There were several bars where you could relax and have a drink. There were lots of entertainment options: lectures, classes, card games, swimming, casinos, computer training, movies, dancing, a spa, a nice gym with classes such as spinning and shows. Mixed drinks were included as well and the ingredients were "top shelf." In addition, there were expensive bottles of premium wine if you wished to purchase them. There were wine selections from all over the world. We drank our "fair share" of French Sancerre. You could drink French champagne 24 hours a day if you wanted to. We never had tea - too full from lunch and did not want to spoil dinner.Īll drinks - including alcohol - were included. There was a Ben and Jerry's ice cream bar, which was VERY popular. There were a number of dining choices which were available at different times of the day. The menu was heavily into sushi and raw fish and that is not the type of food we prefer. We had a reservation at Silk Road, but canceled it after looking at the menu. We ate at Prego one evening and quite honestly I did not like it as much as the main dining room. Each cabin is permitted one free reservation per specialty restaurant per voyage after that reservations cost $30. There are two specialty restaurants on board - Prego - an Italian restaurant and Silk Road - an Asian style restaurant. The cantaloupe tasted like fresh picked and the croissants were still warm. and the hot items were available an hour or so later. Opening hours varied daily but the times were posted in your daily newsletter. We had lunch and dinner in the main dining room, but had breakfast in the Lido dining area (on the top - 12th deck) because they served it earlier in the morning and you could get coffee, fresh fruit, cereal, fresh baked pastries, lox, cheese and lunch meat. At nearly every meal there was a type of fresh local fish. There was a huge variety for each meal and you could have as much or as little as you wanted. On the day of departure, we were served both lunch and dinner. As soon as we were processed - photo taken for card swipe I.D., we were plied with glasses of French champagne. Boarding began at noon and the ship sailed at 7:30 p.m. From Anchorage, the cruise line provided shuttle buses for the 1 1/2 hour journey to Whittier, where the ship was docked. and the four hour time difference can take its toll. It is a very long flight from the east coast of the U.S. We traveled to Anchorage a day ahead of time. I did some in depth research about Alaska cruises and knew I wanted a smaller boat (our ship had just over 1000 passengers - others have thousands more), I wanted an all inclusive rate where drinks and tips were included, I did not want to back track and return to the same port from which I had departed and I wanted a cruise line that was highly rated. We booked our cruise at the end of March 2017 - on a whim. I have never taken a cruise before so I have nothing to to compare it to, but this cruise was amazing. We took the Crystal Serenity 7 day cruise which departed from Whittier, Alaska and disembarked in Vancouver. Not all parts of the world are experiencing the same economic environment, said Andy Baldwin, global managing partner-client service at EY. While China’s reversal of its zero-COVID policy may pose some short-term challenges, Manulife CEO Roy Gori expected activity to pick up in the second half of the year, providing impetus to Asia and the rest of the world. Many corporates we interviewed on GMF see Asia as the potential engine for the next leg of global growth. “Come summer or fall, China will be moving to the second phase of reform and opening up… that could certainly help the world also grow and ease the pain of a lot of industrial countries, including Europe,” Siemens Energy Chairman Joe Kaeser told GMF. Open for businessĬhina’s economic tsar Liu He made a big pitch for foreign investment at Davos on the first visit abroad by a high-level Chinese delegation since Beijing shelved its three-year-old zero-COVID policy. Still, risks were plentiful, including inflationary pressures from China’s reopening, rising debt distress in the developing world, and Western nations battling to bring inflation down to 2 percent. “That means we have the end of the strong dollar, the end of the perception that the rate differential can continue to spread and drive fund flows out of the emerging markets and into the dollar.” It’s not that all of the data radically changed, but it changed enough to hit the ‘recalc’ button on literally everything,” Collins told GMF.Ĭollins believes the Fed may hold rates at these elevated levels for longer. “There is a sense of a benign 2023 that did not exist when we went home for Christmas. “It’s a sense that peaked and… we’re not going to have a 5.5 percent terminal rate. “I think the paradigm has shifted radically we woke up on January 2,” said Jay Collins, vice chairman of banking, capital markets and advisory at Citi. The World Bank forecasts growth for the U.S. That has its ripple effects,” Trotsenburg told GMF. “The three big growth bubbles are growing below expectations – the U.S., eurozone and China. “That makes it a very complicated operating environment.” Global Markets Forum: Refinitiv and Reuters bring together the most influential minds from finance and politics in topical debateĪxel van Trotsenburg, managing director of operations at the World Bank, was worried about the debt distress that many emerging economies were facing. WEF participants agreed the world was in a “polycrisis”, a trendy term to describe the threats posed by geopolitical tensions, macroeconomic gyrations with higher interest rates putting the brakes on economic growth and trade tensions fracturing supply chains, and climate change. The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting at Davos this year began on a note of doom and gloom as the prospect of an imminent global recession featured high on the worry list of participants.

You can also create keys with the Azure CLI with the az sshkey create command, as described in Generate and store SSH keys. An SSH key is created as a resource and stored in Azure for later use. If you do not have a ~/.ssh directory, the ssh-keygen command creates it for you with the correct permissions. SSH keys are by default kept in the ~/.ssh directory. ssh-keygen asks a series of questions and then writes a private key and a matching public key. To create the keys, a preferred command is ssh-keygen, which is available with OpenSSH utilities in the Azure Cloud Shell, a macOS or Linux host, and Windows (10 & 11).
